5 Small Adjustments to Make to Help You Live with More Purposeful Intention

Learn how intentional living is made with these 5 small adjustments so that you can reach your personal goals and have more purpose living beyond the means of motherhood. | intentional living | motivation | simple living | personal goal setting | motherhood inspiration | purpose | cultivate | stay at home mom #intentionalliving #goalsettings #mindfulness

Make five new adjustments in your life that will help you to live with more purposeful intention. Don’t have time to read it now? Pin here for later!

Have you tried to live with more purposeful intention, but feel like you have had no success? For instance, you probably gave yourself a New Year’s resolution but you totally forgot about it the next week. Or maybe you wanted to try something new to simplify your life but it didn’t work out. If you’re wanting to make a change in your lifestyle, but it never worked for you, then there is a good reason for that.

It’s not that you are lazy or you just can’t stick to your major goal. It’s just that you have to actually make an effort by giving yourself baby steps. You can’t just wake up one day and decide to completely change your diet (as an example). You have to make little changes for yourself one step at a time so that it will help you reach that ultimate goal.

I’ve made a few changes in my life so that I could live with more purposeful intention and I feel better each day with the small steps that I’ve taken. But it’s taken some dedication and a little reminder to myself each day. And I couldn’t be happier with the decisions that I made to better myself. I have a two-year-old and I’m working each day to build a business for myself so that I can look forward to supporting my own family. But to reach this success, I’ve had to make little changes about myself that would help me to become the person that I am today.

What does it mean to live with intention?

To me, living with intention means to make certain changes in your life so that you can be your best self and live the way that you envision your future self. It’s to help you reach your goals by making little decisions here and there so that you may live a better and simple life. Intentional living is all about making adjustments and small changes.

Here are some adjustments that you can start making each day to live more intentionally.

1. Push yourself to get up at a decent hour.

I TRY to get up at 5 A.M. during the weekdays when I can. That’s still a work in progress. But I have to say that I love getting up early. I would do it every day if I could. But sometimes it’s impossible to do that with my two-year-old. I still do it any chance that I get.

When it’s time for me to get up early, it gives me a chance to think about my day ahead and I also get to self-reflect. I think about things that I’ve done in the past or things that I do in the present. It’s so peaceful when I get to sit there in silence and enjoy my coffee. As I write this, I realize how much of a mom I sound. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

You should listen to the 5 A.M. Miracle Podcast with Jeff Sanders. He shares great information on how to be more productive and setting goals.

If you can push yourself to get up early, then do so. You’d be surprised at how much you can get things done before noon. Plus, this gives you time to make actual goals and fit it into your busy schedule. I only wish that I had started getting up early before then.

2. Become self-aware of your bad habits

Sometimes you just need to realize that the bad habits are what’s keeping you from living with purposeful intention. I used to have a bad habit of eating junk foods and not drinking enough water. So every day, I started making small adjustments by making better decisions in my eating habits. And I pushed myself to drink more water each day.

It became a slow start because I felt like I was having an addiction to good food! Then again, who doesn’t? But I used enough willpower with the right mindset to make those small changes each day to get rid of those bad habits.

3. Tackle an issue that prevents you from becoming your best self.

If you have an issue that prevents you from becoming your best self, then find out what that is and work on it each day. I have anxiety and sometimes it gets really bad. But it used to be bad almost every day. I can live my life more easily because I got myself on the right medication, watched what I ate, created exercises to ease the anxiety, and I focused on other things to keep my mind busy. It’s hard when you have this issue. But there are different ways to handle that if you can relate to it.

Why this will help you find purpose and to live more intentionally?

If you find what your goal is but you aren’t reaching them, then it is most likely that you need to figure out was is holding you back. Those are the obstacles and you’ve got to push them out of the way to move forward. I wanted to be able to decrease my anxiety so that I could be the best mother to my child. The anxiety held me back from my own parenting abilities. So, I pushed it out of the way and started to figure out what triggers my anxiety and how I can to reduce it. Don’t get me wrong. It has been a definite challenge. But I wanted to be able to see more clearly so that I could enjoy motherhood in its own beautiful form.

4. Seek the person that you’d like to be with self-reflection

You can do this in the mornings when you try getting up earlier than you usually do. But this an exercise to help you focus on the intentional living. Who do you want to be? What kind of life do you want to live? I suggest writing these thoughts down in a journal so that you can always go back to read what you wrote down. That way this can help you stay on the right track and prevent you to lose focus.

QUICK TIP: Anytime you think of something that comes to mind that is related to your personal goals, stop what you’re doing and write it down immediately.

5. Always write down goals to get to your personal objectives straightened out.

If you’ve already got the “big picture” of what it is that you personally aim for then you know that it’s time to make smaller goals to reach your big objectives. For instance, you can think about why you plan on reaching that objective, what effect it’s going to have on you, and how exactly you are going to get there. This is where it’s important to write down your smaller goals and schedule them out.

It’s not an easy task to accomplish everything that you want in life. But, if you make your small changes here and there in a consistent manner, then you’ll find yourself closer to your personal intentions in the long run. You just have to have a will and a bit of determination to change your mindset and manifest the person that you want to become.

This is a Valentine’s day special for you mamas who want to whip up something quick to keep your skin feeling soft and looking fresh. I love this recipe because it requires simple ingredients and it is very easy to make. Not only is it easy to make, but it turns out to be looking so delicious that you’ll want to end up eating it! I know my daughter wanted to get a quick taste!

A simple recipe like this is great for you if you have dry skin. Although, it is not for you if you don’t like greasy lotions. But the body butter absorbs quickly into your skin. And you can’t use this recipe if you have a nut allergy.

What is so great about homemade whipped body butter?

Well, it has many added benefits for your skin. What’s there not to love? It’s rich in vitamins, great for sensitive skin, helps fight acne, stretch marks, and rough dry skin. Plus, the lavender essential oil is amazing for skin rashes, redness, and calming relaxation for aromatherapy. I always use lavender as my go-to choice of essential oil.

Here are some things you should always know before making your own recipe.

Always be sure to do your research when purchasing essential oils. Some may contain chemicals which will be toxic for your skin. You also have to make sure that you dilute your oils before you apply directly to the skin. There are many carrier oils that you can use to dilute. For this recipe, jojoba oil and coconut oil are great for use as a carrier oil. I used a 5% dilution for a stronger scent to the body butter. Plus, the lavender essential oil can be applied directly to the skin without irritation. For some other oils, or if you have sensitive skin, you may want to use a 1 to 2% dilution for EO.

Why you need to make this recipe.

Aside from the skin benefits, its fun to make! And you’ll be proud of yourself for making your own homemade whipped body butter without having to spend a fortune on expensive creams. Sometimes, the best products are the homemade recipes because you know what you’re putting on your body.

And you don’t have to worry about what type of ingredients are used in items that you buy from the store. I mostly bought my items through Amazon, but I also like the products that are sold on this site. I haven’t tried them yet, but I’ll definitely have to get my next order through Mountain Rose Herbs.

It’s also a nice little hobby to have when you want a little break from the rest of the world.

I think it’s good to break up your routine, especially if you’ve got the winter blues this time of the year. Another reason you need to make this recipe is that it makes a great gift to give to someone for Valentine’s Day. So, if your thinking of hosting a Galentine’s day party, then think of using this recipe to give to some of your other mom friends as a little self-care V-day gift.

As a stay at home mom, it can be hard to deal with post-partum depression and anxiety. But the best ways that I have dealt with that is by keeping my mind completely occupied with fun things to do.

It encourages me to keep the negative thoughts out of my head and making your own self-care products seems to be therapeutic in a way. So, if you struggle with this as I do, then this is the hobby that you’ll want to have at your fingertips.

Do you have a self care routine? If not, then why don’t you? Is it because you feel that you don’t have enough time? It’s easy to become distracted with many things in your life. But maybe you should start with one and make time for it today. Having your own self care routine is important for your own mental health and physical self. A self care routine doesn’t mean you need to take an hour long soak in the tub. There are different ways to take care of your own self. And sometimes you just have to get creative with it. In fact, I have a free self care starter workbook that you can download in the freebies library when you sign up for weekly newsletters for Pretty Crafty and Wanderful.

What I like to do for my self care routine.

As part of my self care routine, I like to save it for a Sunday. And the reason why that is because it gives me a little refresher if I’ve had a crazy week. It also helps prepare me for a new start with the week ahead. I like to incorporate self care on Sunday by getting up a little earlier than my daughter and husband. I just enjoy drinking my coffee and sit there with no digital items on hand. Then I’ll shower and use my coconut and rose salt scrub. And then I’ll put on a clay mask and a face moisturizer after.

I’m not really the type to have so many beauty products. In fact, I’m pretty basic when it comes to beauty. But I do love to feel relaxed and have a lazy Sunday. I just recently added a salt scrub to my self care routine and I’m totally okay with never looking back. It’s sort of become a newfound obsession and it’s made me inspired to look into making my own natural organic salt scrubs.

This is the scrub that I just recently bought and there are no regrets. It smells delicious, makes my skin feel oh so soft, and it takes all the stress away. I’ve never felt more rejuvenated.

So, what are the benefits of using salt scrubs?

It’s no secret that salt scrubs are beneficial to you. By all means, this isn’t anything new, but if you’re not familiar with the benefits, they are great for replenishing, removing dead skin, and it stimulates the production of healthy skin cells. It also makes your skin feel soft after exfoliating, and it gives your skin a cleaner feel. The only thing that’s new to me is the ingredients used in this product. It contains coconut oil and rose extract.

What’s so great about coconut oil and rose extract?

Coconut oil is amazing for your skin. It’s useful for things like moisturizing the skin and it has vitamin E. But did you also know that coconut oil has anti-microbial properties? This means that you can use coconut oil to fight acne or eczema if you have really dry skin. And rose extract also contains antioxidants, Vitamins A, C, D and E, and other minerals. It’s properties make it useful for hydrating dry and sensitive skin.

When should you use a coconut rose salt scrub?

I’ve been using the Coconut and Rose Salt Scrub once a day while I’m in the shower. The one that I have is used as a body scrub only. So I tend to use this on my shoulders, hands, and feet. But my favorite use for this salt scrub is right after shaving my legs. And I have to say, my legs have never felt more smooth before this.

You can also use salt soaks if you are more of a bath person and you enjoy soaking in the tub. But if it’s a day where you just need to use a beauty product quickly before your on the go, then I suggest using the salt scrub while your washing your hands. It’ll make your hands feel super clean and really smooth. That makes it useful for anyone who gets dry hands in the winter. I know I get a little bit of eczema where my wedding ring sits, and the coconut rose salt scrub has helped tremendously for healing my dry skin.

Now you may be thinking, why not just use a moisturizer while you’re on the go? To be honest, I’ve used all kinds of moisturizers and it’s just not the same effects that I get using a salt scrub. Plus, I feel like I have to keep using a moisturizer over and over again.

Here are 5 reasons you need self-love in your life.

1. Having self-love brings more positivity in your life.

Having self-love manifests a positive lifestyle by taking care of yourself first. Although I love being home with my daughter, I noticed how unhappy I was being by myself most of the time. So, forcing myself to get out more was exactly what I needed.

Here’s what you can try to manifest self-love and positivity in your life.

One new thing I fell in love with was jogging every other day. My main reason for doing this was not to get in shape or to lose weight but to really clear my mind. I use this to my advantage for self-love and therapy. So, one thing you can try is going out for a quick run. And listen to some of your favorite music for motivation. Seriously! It can really get you going.

In my experience, running made me feel free and happy. Jogging a few times a week will most likely boost your self-confidence. And if you find something that makes you happy, this is how you’ll be able to manifest self-love in your life.

2. If you feel like you can’t get any love elsewhere, then why not give it to yourself.

Sometimes it is hard to explain to others about what or how you are feeling because they might not get it. Talking it out can be helpful in many ways. But sometimes you might have these negative feelings that are hard to subside. Then it becomes difficult to receive enough support to keep those feelings away, such as self-doubt or stress.

But you should never be afraid to ask for help. I am only saying that when you think you aren’t satisfied with the way that you are feeling, then it is time to bring out acts of self-love because you deserve it. These acts of self-love are things that are most important and it starts with the most basic. I started eating healthier, hydrating, and picking up new hobbies. Even though these are tiny acts of self-love, the foundation of self-love starts with self-care and motivation.

3. The act of self-love contributes to your mental health.

I can tell you that I have come a long way since the day I became a mother. The first year was the absolute hardest for me. Especially when it came to figuring out who I was.

But, this is a new life change for you and it’s a huge deal.

That first year I had my daughter, I didn’t care about anything else but her. That is totally normal when you are a new mom. But I realized I wasn’t taking care of myself in the way that I needed it.

And maybe for you, it’s time to make something happen for yourself.

One thing I changed that contributed to my mental health was to cut out t.v. time and read more books. I used to love reading books, so I went back to that. Contributing to your mental health will help you to become your best self.

As a new mom, self-love is important for your own well-being and overall health. Learn more on why you need self-love. Plus, download your FREE E-book today when you join Pretty Crafty and Wanderful.

4. Self-love will only spread love to others.

Don’t forget that the more you take care of yourself, mentally and physically, the happier that you will be. And the happier that you are, the more love you will have for yourself and others.

I noticed how much I did not want to be around others for the longest time. This was a symptom of post-partum depression that I dealt with. I knew that lashing out or feeling angry was not the person that I was. But I got the help that I needed to help me focus on being the best version of myself.

If you love the person that you are, then you will gain more love for others. If you have experience with symptoms of PPD, don’t ever be afraid to talk to someone about it.

5. Self-love will help you gain more confidence in yourself.

Those tiny acts of self-love and kindness made me more confident as a mother and a person. You don’t care anymore about who is judging you whether it is parenting or who you are as a person. Although I am introverted, I became more outgoing, had less anxiety, and loved who I was becoming in the end.

Self-love can be challenging especially if you feel like it’s impossible to accomplish. Because when you’re a new mom, you can only focus on the two people that matter most to you. And that is your husband and your baby.

Self-love does not happen in a day. It takes time. But you will eventually see yourself grow into the more confident person that you’ve always wanted to become.

That is why I have written an e-book just for you. A Mother’s Guide to Self Love teaches you how to overcome the self-doubt and stresses that come with motherhood.
